Spring is a perfect time to say “out with the old and in with the new.” It’s also a perfect time to check in with your oral hygiene routine and freshen it up with a few simple swaps.
Step 1: Replace your toothbrush.
Toothbrushes should be changed out every 3-4 months, or sooner if the bristles are frayed or if you’re recovering from an illness. When you’re sick, storing your toothbrush near other toothbrushes in your house can contaminate them, so you might consider replacing all of them. Try keeping extras on hand so you can replace them when needed.
Step 2: Keep your toothbrush clean.
In addition to keeping your toothbrush fresh, make sure to keep it clean by storing it upright in a holder. Avoid storing it in a closed container or with a cover, since this can allow bacteria to flourish. In addition, try to let your toothbrush completely air-dry between uses.
Step 3: Schedule a cleaning.
If you haven’t had your annual dental checkup and cleaning yet, make an appointment today. You should have your teeth professionally cleaned at least once a year, and spring is a great time for a fresh start!
